Sponsorship & Fundraising Coordinator

(15 hours per week, 0.4 FTE, 1 year fixed term)


Castlemaine District Radio Inc. (MAINfm) operates a community radio license to broadcast across the Mount Alexander Shire and surrounding districts.

A not-for-profit, incorporated association, managed by a Committee and supported by members and presenters, MAIN FM broadcasts on 94.9mhz on the FM band.


• Manage and monitor the station’s sponsorship portfolio
• Maintain existing sponsors
• Seek out new sponsorship opportunities
• Maintain and manage contracts with current and new sponsors
• Facilitate the scripting and recording of sponsorship announcements
• Fundraising for major MAINfm events (including the MAIN Kick-Off and the Radiothon)
• Developing systems and processes for the scripting, recording, editing and playing of sponsorship  announcements.

• Accountable to the Station Manager to ensure key objectives are delivered in an efficient and professional manner.
• Accountable for effectiveness of timelines and delivery of support to internal and external stakeholders, including existing and new sponsors.
• Freedom to act is governed by clear objectives, policies and/or budgets as determined by the Station Manager and Committee of Management


• Exercise judgment in making day to day decisions regarding works under direct control consistent with general guidelines and accepted work practices.
• Work will involve solving problems, using procedures and guidelines and the application of professional or technical knowledge or knowledge acquired through relevant experience.
• Guidance and advice would usually be available within a time to make a choice.

• A proven ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors, volunteers, contractors, and       community organisations
• Ability to recognise, discuss and resolve problems, and be flexible where required.
• Ability to deal with the people from diverse backgrounds in a courteous and cooperative manner.
• Ability to be an effective team player.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience working with community organisations.
• Experience in fundraising, sales, and managing sponsor relationships.
• Knowledge and experience in marketing and public relations.

• Demonstrated experience and success in sales, marketing, and fundraising.
• Demonstrated success in attracting, retaining, and engaging sponsors.
• Experience working within community organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of MAINfm and community radio.

Volunteer Opportunities

MAINfm is a community radio station staffed almost entirely by volunteers – in fact around 90 presenters, committee members and station volunteers collaborate to keep MAINfm the voice of our local community.

Volunteering at MAINfm doesn’t just help us out – there are heaps of opportunities for experience, not only in media production and presentation, but in many behind-the-scenes areas such as:

  • Music Library management
  • Technical assistance
  • Audio production
  • Office administration and reception
  • Website maintenance
  • Promotion and fundraising
  • Outside Broadcast crew
  • IT support and maintenance
  • Committee roles

Please note:

  • You will need to successfully complete the MAINfm Presenter Training Course to qualify for consideration as a presenter.
  • You will be required to sign a Code of Practice to abide with the various clauses of our Code of Ethics and the policies of CDR Inc.
  • Membership of the organisation which is $50 a year. Becoming a member gives you a vote at any elections held by CDR Inc.
  • You may be required to apply for a ‘Working with Children’ authorisation. We do have forms available. Photo ID costs will be the responsibility of the individual.
