AUSTRALIAN MUSIC MONTH: NOVEMBER 2020

94.9 MAINfm is turning up Australian Music in November, bringing you a solid month of home-grown talent.

MAINfm will play a part in supporting Australian creators through challenging times, by increasing our focus on Australian artists across the program grid in November….

Our 90+ volunteer presenters will turn the focus of the music on their shows to Australian artists –  this might be by presenting music shows with 100% Australian content, or playing even more local content than they usually would.

There will be retrospectives, interviews, live recordings from the MAINfm archives, Australian themed-shows and more.

There is no doubt there will be a lot of exciting home-grown radio to go around. As our listeners know, we already have two dedicated Australian Music programs (‘Live & Local’ and ‘Hot to Trot’) and have committed to work towards a quota of 30% Australian Music across our programming.

DJA DJA WURRUNG RADIO

Dja Dja Wurrung Radio – MON- FRI mornings 8.30 am

Starting Monday 6th July- for what would have been NAIDOC week- MAINfm is beginning a new series focusing on local indigenous culture.

Dja Dja Wurrung Radio was created for MAINfm in 2016 by Uncle Rick Nelson and Alison Hanly. It is a series of short interviews to highlight and celebrate local indigenous culture past and present. It was shortlisted for the 2016 Reconciliation Victoria HART awards and was made possible by a grant from the Mount Alexander Shire Council.

GREAT/GRANT NEWS FOR MAINfm!

THURSDAY 21 NOVEMBER

We have been the recipient of some fantastic news from the Community Broadcasting Foundation this week, in the form of two content grants. These grants are for two very program series ‘The Card-Carrying Members of the Library Liberation Front’ and ‘Turning the Goldfields Green’.

The Card-Carrying Members of the Library Liberation Front is a ten-part podcast and radio series uncovering the human stories of connection that people make through libraries, from young mums and the elderly, marginalised teenagers and refugees, to prison Dads who record themselves reading books to their children while incarcerated.

Turning the Goldfields Green  is a one hour weekly radio program and podcast; interviewing people, groups, businesses and institutions about their activities, efforts and solutions to the climate crisis. Working in partnership with the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG), this program will investigate what is happening locally (Central Victoria) and how that is reflected globally.

Congratulations to everyone who worked hard on obtaining these grants!
