Council invites you to \u2018meet the climate change-makers\u2019 in April<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Mount Alexander Shire Council is celebrating how people are taking action on climate throughout April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To line up an interview, email Danielle from Council on d.bagnato@mountalexander.vic.gov.au – and she’ll put you in contact with participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The month-long celebration of sustainability will take place on Council websites and social channels, on local radio, and in local newspapers and community newsletters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the month, Council will share inspiring stories from shire residents, community groups, schools and businesses. These have been provided to Council from community members via www.shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au<\/a>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The climate-takeover will also include information about measures Council is taking to reduce their environmental footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEarlier this year we asked our community to share their stories of how they\u2019re taking climate action locally,\u201d said Emma Richardson, Council\u2019s Acting Climate Change Coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a fantastic response, with people sharing all sorts of ways they\u2019re reducing their environmental impact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow we want to celebrate how our community are taking climate action locally, so we can all learn from each other. We\u2019re also hoping to engage more people in taking climate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pilot initiative is an action from Council\u2019s Climate Change Strategy, which was adopted in June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategy sets the direction for Council\u2019s climate action now, and into the future, and was informed by extensive community feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring the month-long campaign, we\u2019ll also be sharing all the ways Council is taking climate action,\u201d said Ms Richardson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
