REVIVAL – Artist Bios

Cookin’ On 3 Burners are Australia’s hardest hitting Hammond organ trio – joining the dots between deep funk, raw soul, organ jazz & boogaloo. Listening to Cookin’ On 3 Burners is like poking your head through a time portal that stretches between the year you were born and the middle of next week. On one hand there are clues to a spiritual home that’s situated somewhere in the back streets of 1966, but on the other is a reinvented soul stew that’s very much a product of the 21st Century.
Sugar Fed Leopards (SFL)are a blazing septet conceived at the swooning nexus of classic pop, doo-wop,disco and rock’n’roll. With smoking hot costumes, sweet harmonies, tight dance routines and a cranking rhythm section, SFL have been breaking hearts and starting dancefloor fires since2013. Described as “…Saturday Night Fever meets Kath & Kim on acid”, the band has toured in Europe and across Australia, including festival spots at Boogie, Woodford and Falls.

The Merindas are the collective force of Ballardong Whadjuk and Nyoongar woman Kristel Kickett (from Tammin, WA) and Candice Lorrae of Jawoyn and Thursday Island heritage (born in Darwin, NT). Now based in Melbourne, these soul sisters are trail-blazing with their innovative style of Indigenous music. They describe their unique sound as “electronic pop with a dance-hall feel, alongside hip hop and R&B influences.” The Merindas formed in 2012, singing Motown hits for the premiere of The Sapphires movie. What was supposed to be a one-off show became a full-time career, having performed more than 400 shows in the last nine years. Delving into a more Disco/Pop feel, The Merindas new EP is Co-Produced by The Merindas and Simon Moro at Ninety Nine 100 studios and features a fusion of electronic and live instruments.

Jess Ribeiro is an award-winning shape-shifting musical enigma. The near-untouchable quality of her recorded output is astonishingly consistent and the wait for new music is always worthwhile. She has released 3 albums so far (My Little River 2012; Kill it Yourself 2015; Love Hate 2019) with her fourth on the way She has performed and collaborated with the likes of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Angel Olsen, Kurt Vile, Steve Earle and Ben Edwards (producer of Aldous Harding/Marlon Williams).

K5 are a three-piece band from Central Victoria that formed in 2019. Zeb from Matrimony plays guitar and sings, Nicole from RRR’s Respect the Rock plays bass and Julia from the library hits the drums.

DJ Jen Moore If you’ve never been caught in a Jen Moore drenching of a dancefloor, at a bar, a sunny field filled with hypnotic beats, the after after party or a surprise pop up, then your name is the internet. She is often approached by people asking what the hell is that she’s playing or where they can find her – Insta? Soundcloud? Not likely. She’s pretty much a weirdo, the extroverted introvert, the dj’s dj, a connoisseur. Jen delivers elevating mixes of outstanding techno, disco, dark wave, new romantic, deep house, experimental, post punk look, wherever the night may go. A subtle yet captivating multi genre storyteller, Jen’s confident and playful dialogue with her vinyl keeps you enthralled, enchanted, grooving, and guessing.
