This, from Crag and Hayley:
We’ll be screening a documentary at The Northern Arts Hotel this coming Sunday and would love it if you could come along.
It’s early, it’s free and it’s a really interesting piece of work.
SUNDAY FROM 11.30PM with a Q&A with the film-maker and Hayley West.
IT HAPPENS TO US ALL is a 60 min free film screening that follows church minister turned atheist and Castlemaine local, John Dutton, in his final 3 months of life, following his terminal brain cancer diagnosis (Glioblastoma).
In a series of interviews with his son, John reflects on life, connection, and family as a father of three and a grandfather of two. John also speaks about coming to Australia as a ‘ten pound Pom’, his love of The Beatles and model boats, as well as his time in the church, and how that’s affected how he feels about death and the afterlife.
As his memory becomes more affected by the brain tumour, audiences will get a rare and intimate look into what it’s like to live with this disease as John prepares to say goodbye. John would have turned 70 on the 13th of June 2023.
There will be a Q&A following the screening.
