I joined MainFM in maybe 2012, I think, when it was in the old Jail and I think called WMAfm . I was inspired to play out sounds I like and to help change a station that was not really representing changes occurring in the community.
Before I joined, I had been living in Tallarook , fixing apple macs , working with national trust , performing and directing, Travelling and slowly removing myself from Melbourne.
My show is called Sensorium – Electronic music through the ages and all the twists and turns that it includes. I’ve been doing it for 12 to 13 years. I like to play, explore and learn. It’s a show that forces me to look and seek beyond my normal bounce areas.
Something I’ve learned about myself is that I don’t know very much about electronic music. I’ve also learned that there are similar cheese heads about, too.
I admire fellow presenters’ diligence in research.
To me, community radio means representing the ever changing – seeking to create a voice and shared interest between those that might not realise they share it. It’s a place to share skills.
A particularly memorable moment was The Coup.
I use Facebook to promote my show.
As a parting message, I think the growth and the engagement of the MainFm community is inspiring.
