Dear Valued Presenters and volunteers, As you know Radiothon is fast approaching – we’ve been working hard behind the scenes- it’s all shaping up!
We invite you to our:
Radiothon Presenters Forum,
Monday July 15th,
6pm at the Taproom.
It’s a chance to come together, hear all about how Radiothon will work, get tips on making a cracker show, share ideas and ask questions. If you’re new to the station it’s a great way to meet people!
It won’t be long and ardous!
I’m excited to announce we have special guest Claire Stuchbery joining us to share her insights and hot tips on making Radiothon successful. Claire is a long time presenter of PBSfm, is a PBSfm board member and has hosted governance training sessions with MainFM’s Committee of Management, so is also familiar with ( and a fan!) of MainFM.
In light of our recent announcements around changes to our funding and our reduced staff hours, it’s also a great time to ask any questions about what that means in the future.
Please see attached our ‘Radiothon Presenters Handbook’ attached for some tips and info, in the meantime…
A reminder of what’s involved:
– Snacks are a big part of Radiothon, there will be snacks provided.
– Radiothon kicks off at 7.30am on Friday 19th July, and finishes at 8pm on Saturday 27th July (hence why we need snacks)
– The aim is to have back to back live shows across the grid. If you can’t do your show live, please discuss with Rich Moffat so he can organise a fill in.
– Radiothon is about asking the community to support the station by becoming a subscriber.
– It’s fun to buddy up with a fellow presenter, and to invite special guests to come on air with you.
– Everytime someone subscribes, they get a mention and a thank you on air.
– Office helpers will be running into the studio during your show with the names of people you need to give a shout out to – Every subscriber gets a subscriber pack with: a letter of thank you, a bumper sticker, a subscriber card, a postcard and a program guide
Prizes
– You will need to spruik our sponsors and mention the prizes
– There will be a list of DAILY PRIZES on the panel to be read out by presenters each day of Radiothon.
– Winners of the daily prizes will be drawn at random at the end of each day with the winners’ names announced on air the following day.
– There is a list of MAJOR PRIZES in the studios
– these can be read out in the lead up and during Radiothon.
– All SUBSCRIBERS will be eligible for the MAJOR PRIZES which will be announced in the first week of August.
Office Helpers
This all relies on dedicated teamwork! While presenters are doing their thing on air, the office is abuzz with activity. Subscriptions come in online and over the phone, and they need to be ferried into the studios to be announced live and then processed so that subscribers receive their subscriber packs.
It’s all hands on deck, and we hope you’ll take a look at the support schedule and commit to some slots to help and join in on the fun.
Check out The Hub for info and to sign up to the roster:
Special Guests
Please let Rich Moffat know what special guests you have lined up – we are aiming to actively promote all the special happenings in a more coordinated way. In previous years we’ve had live jams, choirs, DJ sets and more. Help us get the word out!
Socials:
Please see attached some social media tiles for you to use to promote your shows in the lead up and during Radiothon.
