Professor Georgina Heydon (Toby’s sister!) has reached out offering this unique opportunity. She is hugely knowledgeable, experienced and enthusiastic. This might be a chance to invite some contribution to your show and boost listener engagement. Read below from her…
Hi MainFM team,
I’m a big fan of the station and I heard you’re recruiting volunteers. I wondered if you’re interested in having a language trivia spot on a suitable program? I’m a professor of forensic linguistics living in Chewton and I’ve done a lot of radio interviews on language, linguistics and crime, but I can also talk about word origins, curious language facts, accents, slang and how conversations work.
My friend and colleague Prof Kate Burridge does a similar spot on 3RRR Breakfasters.
I promise not to be boring and I’d be happy to take questions from listeners.
Here’s a link to one of my Conversation articles that might be useful: https://theconversation.com/forensic-linguists-can-make-or-break-a-court-case-so-who-are-they-and-what-do-they-do-149920
What do you think?
I’m on 0422506670 or heydonfl@gmail.com I’d you’d like to get in touch. I work at RMIT if you want to look me up 🙂
Cheers,
Georgina Heydon
Chewton

I’d love to have Georgina on. I’ll contact her. Thanks for the heads up – Suzanne
I did post a comment…now seems wrongtown.
