I first joined the MainFM community in June 2022. Big fan of the station, love living in Castlemaine and wanted to contribute to Main FM and represent the music I love and what I’m interested in.
Before joining, I had been working as a music teacher, DJ, Music composer and sound designer for Film, TV, Adverts and Digital.
My show is called THE WOW SIGNAL. The show about the art of sampling and is about 19 episodes old. I love sharing and discovering new music and learning about the history of music.
Something I’ve learned about myself is that I’m very addicted to trying to make connections between songs. Something I’ve learned about my community is that it stretches from Castlemaine all around the world and the station is popular in the oddest corners of the world.
I love Jump Up Jamaica because of the way they live remix stings, use of sound effects and interesting themes.
For me, community radio means music for the people by the people, and it reflects the interests and passions of members of the community.
A memorable moment for me was presenting during the outside broadcast from Billy Cart race, learning the board on the fly and dealing with equipment failures.
I use face book, instagram and mix cloud, post reminder before show and promote this weeks theme, post links after show to mixcloud. Mixed results, sometimes good engagement that drives play numbers up on mixcloud. Posting to facebook groups that relate to the theme or genre of your show works well. Targeted posts.
